June 08 James performs at his first open micWe had a great time Friday evening as we watched James perform at the local coffee shop. This was his first time out and I think that he did really well. I know..I'm just the mom, here. I'm posting a few of the songs on this entry. If you would like to see all five songs, visit www.youtube.com/user/mountainpages
Nana and Papa and my sister and her kids all came to watch James play. I think that Meema and Auntie Brandy would have been there with bells on, but Meema is recovering from surger and Auntie Brandy is taking care of her.
James played a set and then we took a break for dinner. My family all went home and by the time we were done with dinner, the place was filled back up again and James played another set to a full house. Tim and Judy even drove up! Judy has been James' guitar teacher since he started. It was great to have them there. James had also called up his friend, Joel. He and his family came to watch as well.
For me and Chris, it was really nice to have a spot in the middle of our struggles with James that was fun and positive. We thought about not allowing him to perform because of some poor choices he had made, but if we had taken that away from him, there would have been not one positive moment with him this week. We need to hold on to those for now!
